New Tattoo and Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo Curriculum Requirements
New tattoo and permanent cosmetic tattoo curriculum requirements will take effect on September 1, 2023. The new regulations strengthen the training criteria for obtaining a tattoo license as well as a permanent cosmetic tattoo school license and a master permanent cosmetic tattoo school license. A letter regarding these changes was sent to all schools. Schools, please submit your updated syllabus and detailed course outline to the Board for Barbers and Cosmetology at your earliest convenience to ensure approval by September 1, 2023. The new requirements are as follows:
New Tattoo Regulations
- 1000 Hours of Training
- Previously 750 Hours of Training
- Effective 9/1/23
New Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo Regulations
- 200 Hours of Training
- Previously 90 Hours of Training
- Effective 9/1/23
New Master Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo Regulations
- 200 Hours of Training
- Effective 9/1/23
